Power sector set to meet capacity addition targets

Business Line quoted Mr VS Sampath the Power secretary as saying that the domestic power sector was geared to meet the annual capacity addition targets.

He said that the India Government has substantially tied up equipment, construction and engineering capacities in the power sector and is in a position to meet annual capacity addition targets.

He, however, cautioned that there were many bottlenecks to overcome. One major bottleneck that needs to be tackled on a war footing is the lack of adequate porting facilities to improve transportation of fuel.
