CERC cracks whip, to check overdrawls

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) on Tuesday took a serious note of the power failure and directed that in case the constituents did not comply with the directions of the NRLDC with regard to overdrawal, the NRLDC would take necessary steps to open the identified feeders to the constituent States in order to reduce the overdrawl and restore the grid to the safe operating frequency band.
The CERC order said since the situation had not improved despite earlier directions, the officers-incharge of the STUs/SLDCs of the states of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir have been directed to personally appear before the Commission on August 14.
