Engineers’ body f lays ‘false case’ against SDO

CHANDIGARH: Members of the Haryana Power Engineers’ Association (HPEA) h av e condemned the ‘false implication’ of a subdivisional officer (SDO) of the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) by the Haryana vigilance bureau.
Association president RS Dahiya had, on last Monday, said: “No money was recovered from the accused SDO, Balwan Singh. In fact, the money was given to contractor Shish Pal Mehta for the installation of a transformer under a selffinanced scheme.”
Alleging that the officer was implicated at the behest of a local politician, Dahiya said under the revised self-financed scheme the transformer was supplied by the UHBVN and the cost of material and line installation charges were borne by a consumer and given directly to the contractor.
The bureau had claimed that they caught Singh and Mehta on Monday while accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 from a farmer from Radaur.
