‘Chinese parts at plants to blame’
CHANDIGARH: Opposition parties in Haryana have lashed out at the state government, blaming it for the acute power crises that people have been subjected to.

The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has threatened to stage demonstrations at power plants in Yamunanagar, Khedar (Hisar district) and Jharali (Jhajjar) on Wednesday, party s t at e president Ashok Arora said. “We will intensify the stir if the state government does not make efforts to improve the situation,” he said.

Accusing the ruling dispensation of buying sub-standard equipment for power plants from China, INLD secretary general Ajay Singh Chautala said it was because of this reason that the plants failed to function properly and generate adequate power.
“Instead of fixing the problem, the government has found an easy way to wriggle out of it - buying power from other states at a high price,” Chautala said.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president Krishan Pal Gurjar and its legislature party leader Anil Vij denounced the state government for not keeping its promise of supplying 24-hour power supply, mentioned in its election manifesto.

“There is a draught-like situation in Haryana because of inadequate and irregular power supply. Power plants at Khedar, Yamunanagar and Panipat are not functioning properly owing to poor quality of equipment and coal,” Gurjar said. Vij said, “Incidents of power utilities officials being held captive by people is a manifestation of their anger against the Congress rule.” He asked the state government to make alternative sources of power, failing which the party would launch a stir.

The Haryana Janhit Congress (HJC) blamed the wrong policies of the Hooda government for the power situation.
