HARYANA POWER engineers today held gate meetings at Panchkula, Hissar and all three thermal plants in state to protest the Haryana Government decision to give extension in service beyond 58 years to Chief Engineer Transmission BBMB at the recommendation of Chairman BBMB and posting of junior officers to head power utility.

R S Dahiya, President of Haryana Power Engineers Association said at Hissar that there is wide spread resentment among the engineers against the extension of service beyond superannuation to V.K. Gupta as this will mar the career prospects of engineers down the line.

Kabul Singh said that the engineers at Panchkula demanded that extension given to V.K. Gupta, Chief Engineer BBMB beyond superannuation at the recommendation of BBMB Chairman be withdrawn immediately. The post of Chief Engineer Transmission in BBMB is a Cadre Post and power utility had rejected the recommendation of BBMB Chairman as this is against the state service.

Hardeep Sangwan, General Secretary of Haryana Power Generation Engineers Association said that the gate meetings were held at all the three thermal plants of state .He said that engineers wore the black badges as a mark of protest and decided to wear the black badges continuously till June 29 throughout the state.

Dahiya said engineers also demanded the posting of senior officers to head the power utility. At present charge of MD DHBVN given to DC Hisar is totally unacceptable to Engineers. Further a post of Addl. MD has been created in DHBVN against the norms of DHBVN and very junior HCS officer with three year experience has been posted.

Dahiya said that senior most engineers are being made answerable to junior most officials. The Association requests the state government to look into both demands in order to avoid intensification of agitation by Power Engineers.
