Now this is good news for people residing and working in Haryana - Double circuit transmission line from Jhajjar to Sonepat has been commissioned on public-private partnership basis and the line will facilitate evacuation of 2400 MW of power.

THE 400 KV double circuit transmission line from Jhajjar to Sonepat has been commissioned on public?private partnership basis. Techno Electric and Engineering Company Ltd in a press note said that work on the 99Km-long transmission lines from Jharli to Sonepat via Rohtak along with 2 nos. 400/220 KV substations will be completed in record 16 month
The transmission network is designed to facilitate evacuation of 2400 MW of power and will initially transmit 1320 MW of power from Jhajjar Power Plant in Haryana. The first 660 MW unit was commissioned by China Light & Power Company in January.
The project has been executed on public?private partnership project with the Haryana Government and the first ever transmission project to get viability gap funding support from the Central Government.
JKTPL was awarded the project in May 2010 by Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited on a DBFOT basis for a concession period of 25 years, extendable by another 10 years. The Rs. 444 crore project has been financed through a mix of debt and equity. Debt at Rs. 276 crore and the combined equity of Rs. 76 crore was put in by both joint venture partners. The grant of Rs. 92 crore has been extended by the Central Government.
