Engineers flay re-employment of retired officials

Members of the Haryana Power Generation Engineers' Association have opposed the extension and reemployment of engineers beyond the superannuation age of 58 years by the Haryana Power Generation Corporation Ltd (HPGCL).
Thermal engineers have been holding meetings at all three power stations in Panipat, Yamunanagar and Hisar to express their resentment against the decision.

The association said in a release that engineers had decided to launch an agitation if the extension in retirement age was not immediately withheld.

Association president RK Jangra appealed to the Haryana government to intervene in the matter and withhold the extension of “incapable“ engineers on the lines of earlier policy, decid ed by the power ministry, which mentioned that “such extensions definitely caused heart burning among other working engineers“.

The association demanded reinstatement of an executive engineer in the Yamunanagar thermal plant, who was recently suspended.
