PANCHKULA: If you are a resident of Panchkula district and face power cuts because of problems in power transformers, rest assured the problem is
set to be sorted out soon. For, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN), Panchkula has recently got seven mobile power transformers to ensure uninterrupted power supply to residents. This will facilitate continuous power supply to a great extent not only in urban areas, but in rural area as well.
Explaining the functioning of these mobile transformers, a UHBVN official said, “These transformers are of 200 KV capacity and would be attached with complaint redressal vehicles going to places where a problem has occurred in the main transformer. As technicians would be repairing the main transformer, power supply will be restored using the mobile transformer.”
“Sometimes, it takes days to repair the main transformer and residents face long power cuts. Mobile transformers are the best solution to tackle such problems. It will play an important role in rural areas as, sometimes, it takes weeks to restart power supply in far-flung areas,” the official added. Confirming the move, executive engineer of Panchkula district of UHBVN, PK Goyal, said that these mobile transformers would smoothen the functioning of the department as they would cover the whole district including Kalka, Pinjore, Ramgarh and Old Panchkula. “For the first time now, we will have 7 mobile transformers. Earlier, we had one or two such transformers, but these were on trail basis. Some of the new transformers have already started operating,” Goyal added.
