Haryana gets national award for energy conservation

On the occasion of National Energy Conservation Day 2008, Haryana State was awarded the Second National Award for doing outstanding work in the areas of energy conservation, energy efficiency and demand side energy management.

Sumita Mishra, Director of the Renewable Energy Department Haryana received the award in a function organised here on Sunday. Sushilkumar Shinde, Union Minister for Power gave away the award.

Notably, the State has taken various initiatives for saving of energy in agriculture sector, government buildings, municipal street lighting, energy audit of government buildings and demand size management in housing sector which resulted in saving of about 88 MW of power.
