JAIPUR: A Jaipur Vidhyut Vitaran Nigam junior engineer was arrested on a charge of demanding a bribe of Rs 10,000 to issue a temporary power
connection in the Bagaru area on Wednesday.

According to the police, the accused, Roshan Lal Mandia, posted at the Nigam's Bagaru office, had demanded the bribe. "R U Oswal, a resident of Bhagwandas Road in Bagaru approached the ACB complaining that Roshan Lal was demanding a bribe from him," said Sudhakar Johari, IG (ACB).

The complainant had purchased an industrial plot at Milbon in Bagaru area recently. He approached Roshan Lal for a temporary connection for construction purposes. To issue it, Roshan Lal allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 from him. Oswal ostensibly agreed to pay the bribe, but approached the ACB.

"Oswal agreed to pay Rs 8,000 which was to be delivered on Wednesday. An ACB team, led by additional SP (ACB, rural) Mahendra Harsana, caught Roshan Lal accepting the bribe. The money was recovered from his pocket," the officer said.

Roshan Lal was arrested and a case under Sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered.
