JAIPUR: The three public sector power distribution companies in Rajasthan has decided to provide relief to industrial units in the State by restoring electricity supply to them following an improvement in the power availability.

The discoms registered an increase in availability by 1 crore units of electricity.

According to Rajasthan Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Chairman and Managing Director Rajat Mishra here, the second unit of Suratgarh Thermal Power Station has started power production and the snag in the fourth and sixth units has been removed.

While the seventh unit of Kota thermal power project is ready to restart production , the State has started getting 9 crore units of electricity a day as its share from Rihand and Singrauli projects.

Mr. Mishra said the Vidyut Prasaran Nigam was purchasing 1.83 crore units of electricity a day from other States for ensuring power supply for 4 to 5 hours daily to the farmers.

With the availability coming to the normal levels, the power supply was likely to be restored all over the State in a few days, he added.

While the industrial units with a load of 1 MVA and more have started getting power supply on alternate days, the power cut in the industrial areas has been stopped.
