Hissar Thermal Project likely to be commissioned next year

Hissar: The first 600 MW unit of Rajiv Gandhi Thermal Project Khedar near Hissar is likely to be commissioned in January 2009.
The boiler of first 600 MW unit of Hissar Thermal Project was lighted up on August 22 this year against the schedule of August 1.
According to a presentation of Haryana Power Generation Company the boiler firing was due on August 1 but is late by only by 21 days. The 1200 MW project is being executed by the Reliance Infrastructure Limited The total cost of 1200 MW project is 4797 crores is the lowest in country at 3.14 crores per mega watt.
The scheduled synchronization of unit is September 28 this year and may be delayed by about one month. According to sources the commercial run of unit may be possible in last week of January after taking over by HPGCL.
There may be a delay of only one month and the unit may be synchronized on coal firing after complete testing of unit with full load in 36 months from date of start of work by Reliance. The state Government is perusing the matter vigrously so that at least unit is synchronized before the election date, which is likely to be held before Dewali this year.
Work on the second 600 MW unit was also progressing well and the unit was likely to be commissioned after three months commission of first unit. Government was planned to add 5,000 MW installed capacity by 2012-13. With the commissioning of the Hissar plant the state would add 288 lakh units of power daily to the states grid.
