Power Ministry admits slippage in 100 days target

Chandigarh: There will be slippage in the capacity addition of 5653 MW in the hundred days programme of UPA Government despite the fact that the Governments is making serious efforts to achieve the same.
The information received by Gurnek Brar retired PSEB engineer from Ministry of Power under the Right to Information Act is that till July 23 the capacity addition of 2,308 mw was achieved against target of 5653 MW. The thermal project comprises the major components of its target with a total of 5294 MW. The main reason for delay is that BHEL, the power equipment supplier does not have a track record of commissioning the projects in time.
According to a recent report released by the Central Electricity Authority, a capacity addition of 750 MW was actually achieved, against the target of 1,190 MW set for the July. . This is only about 58.66 percent of target Last month country added 931 Mw of capacity against a target of 3,041.5 MW.
