Haryana allocated 75 MW of power by Centre

CHANDIGARH: Haryana has been allocated another 75 MW of power by the Union Power Ministry from its unallocated quota with immediate effect at the intervention of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.
Disclosing this here on Friday, Haryana Power Minister Randeep Singh Surjewala said the Chief Minister had taken up the matter with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde.
Earlier, the State was allocated 100 MW of power from this pool during July 2009.
Mr. Surjewala said there was an unprecedented growth in the demand for electricity due to scanty rain, scorching heat, humid weather conditions and paddy season.
The average daily requirement of electricity had gone up to 1,200 lakh units whereas the availability was around 1,150 lakh units.
He said the State would be getting 50 MW of power from Madhya Pradesh through the Trading Agency and 85 MW from Chhattisgarh through the Power Trading Corporation from now on.Haryana has also made short-term power procurement arrangements from Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat
