CHANDIGARH: 1500 MW Nathpa Jhakri Hydro Power Station in Himachal Pardesh has achieved a record generation 1144 million units against the target of 1009 million units for the month of July.

The previous best generation record for the month of July was 1091 million units in year 2008 as per press note of the corporation. The Power Station is generating 36.9 million units of electricity daily.

The cumulative generation of Naphtha Jhakri project is 3299 million units up to 31st July 2009 during the current financial year against the target of 3218 million units. This has been achieved at a time when country at a large is facing acute power shortage due to weak monsoon and less availability of water in the rivers.

According to press note this record generation has been achieved because of excellent management of silt, water and machines both in terms of operation and maintenance of project.

On account of the record generation during the month, all the beneficiary states of Northern India viz Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, UP, Uttrakhand, Chandigarh, J&K and Himachal Pradesh were benefited immensely.
