JAIPUR: The state government plans to strengthen the power transmission network in the state with an investment of Rs 2,756 crore. Power minister
Jitendra Singh said it includes setting up of two 765-KV grid sub-stations in Jaipur and Kota, after which Rajasthan would enter a select club of states having such power infrastructure in the country.

Stating that the State Power Transmission Nigam has given its approval to the project, Singh said the work of the grid sub-stations and the network would be completed in the next three years. The government also plans to set up three 400-KV grid sub-stations in Ajmer, he added.

The minister said the high capacity installations have been planned in the light of the upcoming 1,320-MW super critical and 1,200-MW thermal power stations and for the quality distribution of power from these power plants.

Singh said the government plans to set up three 400-KV sub-stations each in Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Bhilwara. Besides, five 220-KV substations were proposed to be set up at Bhadra, Kishangarh, Ranwal, Baran, Boranada in Jodhpur and Bagru in Jaipur district.

Further, proposals for 15 more 132-KV sub-stations at different places in the state are also under consideration, he added.

Rajasthan State Vidyut Vitaran Nigam chairman and managing director Nareshpal Gangwar said the board of directors of the Nigam, at its meeting on Friday, passed a budget of Rs 1,598.96 crore for 2009-10 which is 30.42% higher as compared to that of last year.
