PSEB inks Power Purchase Agreement with M/s GVK Power for Goindwal Sahib project

PATIALA: Punjab State Electricity Board Tuesday signed a Power Purchase Agreement with M/s GVK Power (Goindwal Sahib) Limited for the purchase of power from 2x270 MW Thermal Power Project to be developed by the firm at Goindwal Sahib (Distt. Tarn Taran).
The Power Purchase Agreement was signed by Er.Harinder Singh Brar Chairman on behalf of PSEB and S. Madhusudan Director on behalf of GVK Power. Er.G.S.Sra member Generation PSEB was also present on this occasion.
Er.Harinder Singh Brar Chairman PSEB played a significant role to finalise this long pending PPA. The project was allocated to M/s GVK, Hyderabad through bidding process. The capital cost of this project is estimated as Rs.2964 Crores. The coal for the project is sourced from captive mines at Tokisud North sub-block Jharkhand and a part of Saregarha Block in Jharkhand . The land has already been taken over by the firm.
The developer has awarded Boiler Turbine Generator (BTG) package to M/s BHEL and Balance of Plant (BOP) package to M/s Punj Lloyd Ltd. for the supply of equipment for the project .The Coal Transportation Agreement has already been signed by M/s GVK with Indian Railways. The other clearances from various departments/authorities like Ministry of Environment & Forests, Airport Authority of India, and Chief of Staff Western Command have also been obtained.
Er. Harinder Singh Brar Chairman PSEB disclosed that this Project is expected to be commissioned with in 3 years of financial closure by the firm. The annual generation from the project is expected to be 4020 MUs. The construction work at site will commence soon.
