Lucknow: The National Co-ordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE), an umbrella organisation of various Trade unions and Associations in the power sector, has objected to bundling of conventional and non-conventional energy. The committee has observed that it would unneccesarily lead to escalation of cost of power.

NCCOEEE, in a letter sent to union power ministry on February 2, said that renewable generation obligation is also not reasonable or logical as nature of thermal plants is completely different. The committee has also demanded that the audits of supply company may be open to audit by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG).

The committee, while seeking time from the ministry, raised its objection on a clause of new electricity bill that paves way for privatisation of power distribution. Chairman of All India Power Engineers Federation, Shailendra Dubey said that the proposal aims at promoting private sector participation in supply business without any requirement for capital investment by private sector and allowing it to use infrastructure built by power sector to reap profit.
