Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission (PSERC) has proposed tariff for different types of renewable energy projects to give them a boost.
Earlier, PSERC made generation and consumption of renewable energy mandatory for the Punjab Energy Developmen PSERC HAS recommended that PSPCL and PEDA must make arrangements for 2.4 per cent consumption from renewable sources in 2011-12, 2.9 per cent in 2012-13, 3.5 per cent 2013-14 and 4 per cent in 2014-15.
As per a PSERC staff paper issued on the net, for Biomass power projects the commission has proposed tariff as Rs.5.25 per unit. For non-fossil fuel based co-generation projects tariff would be Rs. 4.72 per unit. For small hydro projects up to 5 MW capacities the tariff would be Rs.3.94 per unit and for projects with capacity between 5 to 25 MW the proposed tariff is Rs.3.
34 per unit.
For wind energy power projects in Zone 1 the applicable tariff would be Rs.4.53 per unit. For solar power projects whose power purchase agreements were signed up to March 31 this year the tariff would be Rs.14.95 per unit and Rs.12.85 per unit for solar PV and solar thermal respectively. For those projects where power purchase agreements have been signed in current financial year the relevant tariff would be Rs.12.94 and Rs.12.69 per unit respectively.
With the use of energy from renewable energy sources over all tariffs for PSPCL consumers is likely to increase.
